Take your diving to the next level with the PADI Advanced Open Water Course, completed during an unforgettable 3 day, 2 night liveaboard trip aboard MV Scubapro. This experience combines professional training with incredible fun dives on the outer Great Barrier Reef.

Over the course of the trip, you can enjoy up to 11 dives. These include 9 day dives and 2 night dives, giving you plenty of time to explore diverse reef environments. Importantly, five dives are dedicated training dives, while the remaining six are relaxed recreational dives, allowing you to fully enjoy the reef’s vibrant marine life.

Your Advanced Training Dives

To complete your PADI Advanced certification, you will take part in three core adventure dives. These include:

  • Deep Diving, where you build confidence at greater depths
  • Underwater Navigation, which improves your compass and orientation skills
  • Night Diving, offering a whole new perspective of the reef after dark

In addition, you will choose two elective dives based on your interests. Popular options include Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist, and Underwater Photography. Other elective dives may also be available, depending on conditions and instructor availability.

Comfortable Liveaboard Accommodation

Throughout the trip, you’ll stay aboard MV Scubapro, a purpose-built dive vessel designed for comfort and convenience. Cabins are available in twin-share or double-bed layouts, all offered at the same price. This makes it easy to travel with a buddy or enjoy extra space.

Course Schedule

PADI Advanced Open Water courses commence on the following days:

  • English courses: Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday

This flexible schedule makes it easy to fit your certification into your travel plans.

Itinerary

Day 1

Dives 1 & 2: Two pleasure dives to give you an introduction to diving on the Great Barrier Reef. This is also a great opportunity for you to acclimatize to the diving conditions, fine tune your skills or even to refresh your skills if it has been some time since your last dive.

Dive 3 – Navigation Dive: After revising your knowledge review, your instructor will brief you on your navigation dive where you will complete some exercises using both compass and natural references to help improve your underwater navigation skills.

Dive 4 – Night Dive: Here you will be introduced to night diving on the Great Barrier Reef. You will complete a simple navigation exercise before being given a guided tour with your instructor. During your night dive you can expect to find sleeping turtles, parrot fish and a variety of other marine life only encountered at night.

Days 2 & 3

Dive 1 – Deep Dive: During this dive we will give you the experience to safely conduct dives beyond your 18metre depth limit as an open water diver. Under the close supervision of your dive instructor you will be taken down to 30metres, where you will be tested for signs of nitrogen narcosis, shown the effects of increased pressure and colour absorption at depth.

With your three core dives now completed, you have five (5) day dives remaining to complete the last 2 dives of your Advanced training dives, all designed to introduce you to other interesting areas of diving which you may wish to learn more about.
