Poseidon – Small Groups, Big Reef Experience
Looking for a more personal reef trip? Poseidon keeps things smaller, smoother, and more focused on the experience. Operating from Port Douglas Marina (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays), this high-speed 24m catamaran heads straight to the outer Great Barrier Reef—where you’ll visit three premium sites along the edge of the stunning Agincourt Ribbon Reef.
Thanks to a special roaming permit, Poseidon selects reef sites daily based on visibility and weather. That means you’re always heading to the best possible locations.
And because the Agincourt Ribbon Reefs sit about 70km offshore, the water here is typically crystal clear, with thriving coral gardens and abundant marine life.
Whether you’re new or experienced, Poseidon makes it easy to get involved:
Even better, snorkellers get more than just gear. You’ll start with a reef interpretation talk, then join a guided snorkel where crew point out and explain marine life along the way.
From June to September, Poseidon offers something truly special. With one of the few permits available, guests may have the chance to swim with Dwarf Minke whales.
It’s a rare, up-close wildlife encounter—and easily one of the highlights of the reef season.
Here’s where Poseidon really stands out. With limited passenger numbers and around 10 experienced crew onboard, you’ll get a level of attention that bigger boats simply can’t match.
So, whether you need help with gear, guidance in the water, or just a bit more confidence, there’s always someone nearby to assist.
The vessel itself is modern, fast, and designed for comfort. That means less travel time—and more time in the water.
Poseidon has limited passenger numbers which offers personal service and individual attention. Our guests are looked after by 10 highly qualified crew members to ensure there is plenty of help on hand to assist both experienced and beginner divers and snorkellers
All in all, it’s a five-star reef day that balances adventure with personalised service.
