If you are thinking about taking the plunge into scuba diving, the 5 day PADI Open Water Course is easily the most popular and rewarding way to start. Not only do you learn essential diving skills, but you also enjoy a truly unforgettable liveaboard experience on the Great Barrier Reef.
More InfoAre you ready to explore the underwater wonders of the Great Barrier Reef? Taking a PADI Open Water Dive Course in Queensland is the perfect way to start your diving journey. To join, you need to be at least 12 years old, able to swim 200m, tread water for 10 minutes, and complete a medical questionnaire to ensure you’re fit to dive.*
Courses are primarily in English, but on select days we also offer classes in German, Japanese, and Chinese, making it easy for international divers to join.
Your Open Water course is structured to balance theory, practice, and real-life diving. It starts with two days of classroom learning and pool training, where you master essential skills in a safe environment. Then, you’ll head to the reef for your four open water training dives, putting your new skills into action and earning your certification.
Short of time? You can choose to do an E-learning course where you complete the theory portion at home. Then it’s only 1 day pool and 2 days open water training!!
4-Day Budget Open Water Dive Course
Perfect if you’re short on time or traveling on a budget. Spend two days in the classroom and pool, followed by two days of day-trip dives on the reef. You return to Cairns each evening, and accommodation is not included.
5-Day PADI Open Water Certification
This is our most popular option. After two days of pool and classroom training, enjoy a 3-day, 2-night liveaboard trip with up to 9 dives, including 4 training dives, 5 fun dives, and even a night dive with your instructor!
4-Day, 1-Night Reef Adventure
Limited on time but still want an overnight experience? After the initial two days of pool and classroom sessions, spend two days and one night diving on the reef, completing up to 6 dives.

Already started your course elsewhere? Bring your theory and pool skills to Cairns, and complete your four training dives with us—either on day trips or an overnight reef adventure.
*Important Safety Note: If you have asthma, take medication, or have any other medical concerns, please consult us or a dive doctor before booking. A local dive medical (meeting Australian Standards) may be required, typically costing around $120.
