Reef Quest is a brand new boat fresh off the slip and will offer passengers luxury and comfort while travelling to some of the very best sites available on the Outer Great Barrier Reef in only 90 minutes. Purpose built for diving and snorkelling, ReefQuest boasts a huge dive deck fully equipped with brand new dive gear of the highest standards.
Reef Quest offers up to three dives at two different Outer Reef Locations. Reef Quest has access to 17 exclusive moorings on the Outer Great Barrier Reef including Norman, Saxon and Hastings Reefs. As a result we offer diverse diving and a minimal environmental impact the the Reef. The vessels Captain choses the dive sites each day. Therefore you get the best variety and visibility according to the weather conditions.
Reef Quest is 24m long, has a 9m beam and boasts seating over two air conditioned indoor levels. In addition there are three spacious sundecks (top of the boat, second level of the boat and indented seating on the bow of the boat). Reef Quest is licensed for 125 passengers however numbers are capped at 80. This ensures maximum comfort on board.
Reef Quest caters for snorkellers, certified and introductory divers.
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program is your perfect introduction to the reef with pre-dive tuition, close underwater supervision, dive recognition card and certificate included.
Certified divers can explore the Great Barrier Reef on 2 spectacular locations.
Dive sites are on the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef’s warm waters (approx 70km offshore). Consequently they offer outstanding underwater visibility, superb coral formations and abundant colourful marine life including Wally our friendly 1.5m Maori Wrasse.
At Norman Reef you can see cute little Nemos, magnificent turtles and sting rays! You may have the possibility to dive in beautiful coral gardens and caves.
Introductory diving is a perfect introduction to SCUBA. Pre-dive tuition introduces diving skills, equipment, communication under water and the marine wildlife before your exciting first dive! Close underwater supervision by our friendly instructors provide an amazing experience. After that you also receive a certificate of recognition. Don’t forget to get your photo taken!
Please check the Introductory Diving medical declaration before you go to make sure there are no medical conditions that may prevent you from diving.
Snorkelling equipment is supplied. In addition wetsuit or stinger suits as well as floatation noodles are available for free. You will learn how to put your equipment on during the pre-snorkelling briefing. Guided snorkelling tours are also included. Ideal if you wish to learn and see more of the marine wildlife. Our crew keep a constant watch over the snorkelling sites. So you just have to relax and enjoy the wonders of the reef in complete comfort.
Lunch is available around midday. This includes cold meats and salads, bread rolls, and fresh fruit. Complimentary tea and coffee is served on arrival. The licensed bar is open throughout the day, serving drinks and snacks.
Reef Quest and its sister vessels in Cairns (Aqua Quest, Sea Quest and Ocean Quest) have a proud association with Project AWARE, a global non-profit movement of scuba divers focusing on marine conservation. Some of the money you pay goes to make a regular donation that helps protect our oceans.
